The Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit comes with everything you need to turn your PC or laptop into a powerful automotive oscilloscope. The high resolution (12 bit) Pico PC based oscilloscope and Picoscope Automotive Diagnostic Software along with the kit accessories can be used to measure and test virtually all of the electrical and electronic components and circuits found in a modern vehicle.
PicoScope automotive oscilloscopes are specifically designed for use only in automotive applications. With features such as high resolution and accuracy, a large memory buffer, and a high-speed USB connection, PicoScope automotive oscilloscopes offer unrivalled performance, and are suitable for use in the most demanding automotive applications.
Two different PicoScope automotive oscilloscopes are available: the PicoScope 3223 2-channel oscilloscope, and the PicoScope 3423 4-channel oscilloscope. |

The PicoScope 3223 is a dual-channel oscilloscope and is capable of capturing waveforms from up to 2 sensors at once. To make it easier to diagnose faults on complicated systems, the 4-channel PicoScope 3423 can capture waveforms from up to 4 sensors at once. For example, this injector waveform shows how the PicoScope 3423 was able to capture the injector voltage signals from all 4 injectors from Bank 1 of a V8 cylinder engine.
Easily capture large and complex waveforms
The 512,000 sample buffer of the PicoScope automotive oscilloscope range allows complex waveforms to be captured in great detail — even if they last for long periods of time; whilst the high, 12 bit, resolution makes it possible to expand the captured waveform to allow you to examine every last detail of the waveform.
Fast and easy to use
Just plug your PicoScope into the USB port on any standard Windows based PC, load the supplied PicoScope Automotive software, and then simply select the component/system to be tested from a drop down menu. The software will automatically configure the scope for you as well as give you advice on what the waveform should look like, and general technical information on the item being tested.
Looking at unknown signals is also quick and easy thanks to PicoScopes autosetup function: simply click the autosetup button and PicoScope will automatically set up the timebase, channels and trigger configuration to display any signals that it finds on the oscilloscope's inputs.

PicoScope Automotive Software

Using PicoScope Automotive is both fast and easy. Simply select the sensor or circuit to be tested and the software will automatically load the required settings and give you full details of how to connect the scope, along with advice on what the waveform should look like and general technical information on the component being tested.
PicoScope oscilloscope software has been popular with automotive users since its launch, its ease of use, automated measurements and the ability to save and print waveforms have all added to its appeal. |
For the Automotive Diagnostic Kit an extra drop down menu has been added to the original PicoScope software. The Automotive menu contains a list of the different sensors and circuits that can be tested with the Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kit. When the subject of interest has been selected the PicoScope software will automatically do a number of things:
- A reference waveform will be loaded into PicoScope
- A reference topic will be loaded. This shows you how to connect the scope, gives advice on what the waveform should look like and gives general technical information on the component being tested.
- The required settings (trigger, timebase, voltage range) for PicoScope will automatically be loaded, eliminating the need to spend time setting up PicoScope.
With over 50 different reference topics on vehicle components and systems included as standard, using PicoScope Automotive is both fast and easy.
PicoScope Automotive is supplied as standard with all Pico Automotive Diagnostic Kits and can be purchased separately by existing owners of Pico pc oscilloscopes. |
